The Department of Students Affairs guides and monitors the extracurricular and nonacademic activities of the students. It encourages them to compete in State and National Level Sports and Cultural competitions. It supports the students to organize several festivals and events. It coordinates the activities of sixteen student-managed Clubs. It has a Counselling Wing that addresses the personal and emotional problems of the students.
The Department is also responsible for maintaining campus discipline and sustaining and promoting the cherished values and traditions. It involves itself in maintaining a ragging-free and disciplined campus that ensures and sustains an academically friendly, quiet and career-driven atmosphere.
It acts as a one stop help desk to assist the students and parents to alleviate or resolve the academic and nonacademic problems of the students by liaising with other departments. Help Desk:

Student Welfare Activities
The welfare activities of the department can be broadly classified into the following four categories.
The Department has a dedicated Counselling Wing that provides individual and group counselling to the students to help them maintain and improve their emotional, intellectual, physical and spiritual well-being through a process of self-discovery that promotes over all well-being. It has a Professional Counsellor and a Student Counsellor who directly interact with the students in need of personal counselling to alleviate their stress and anxiety, to enhance their self-esteem, to impart inter-personal skills and to achieve their academic goals. The Department coordinates the following students support activities: Bus transport for day scholars, conduct of house elections, conduct of various festivals and events like Gurupoornima, Gokulashtami, Ganesh Chathurthi, Onam, Amma’s Birthday, Navarathri, Ugadi, Pongal, and. It also organizes a massive Talent Search program for the freshmen and the colorful annual cultural festival Amritotsavam. It also organizes several music and dance program events, by inviting renowned artists through SPICMACAY.
Gurupoornima
It is a festival celebrated to express our reverence to our Gurus. The students organize various cultural programs, skits, quiz, elocution etc. Messages from the life and teachings of the great gurus of India are highlighted.
Talent Search
It is a vibrant and extensive program, spanning over several weeks, organized to identify the freshmen having raw talents in dramatics, skits, quiz, dance, music, debate, literature, sports and games etc. The freshmen participate enthusiastically in large numbers and exhibit their talents.
Gokulashtami / Janmashtami
The birthday celebrations of Sri Krishna are conducted with a lot of pomp and splendor. The campus takes on a festive look and the students, faculty and non-teaching staff show extraordinary zeal and commitment in organizing various vibrant cultural programs. A grand procession with floats depicting various significant episodes in the life of Sri Krishna is a major attraction.
Ganesh Chathurthi
It is celebrated by installing an idol of Sri Ganesha in the campus. Homams are performed in the morning and Poojas and Bhajans are performed in the evenings for three or five days. On the last day a Nimajjanam Procession is arranged in the evening. Prasadam is distributed during these days both in the morning and evening.
Onam Celebrations
It is celebrated with the colorful Pookkalam in several locations in the campus, various sports and cultural events, like dance and music, to depict the culture of Kerala. Onam Sadhya is also arranged.
Amma’s Birthday Celebrations
Our Chancellor’s Birthday is celebrated on 27th of September every year at Amritapuri. A large number of dignitaries along with thousands of devotees from all walks of life belonging to various countries gather to get the blessings of Amma. Our students and faculty render voluntary services. A large number of activities from the Ashram get initiated during this day for the upliftment of the suffering people.
Navarathri
Navarathri is celebrated with kolu, bhajans, pujas and prasadham on all the nine days at Amma’s shrine in the Academic Block 1. Students and staff assemble in large numbers and participate in the festivities.
Amritotsavam
It is the mega annual cultural festival, spreading over a couple of weeks, with a large participation of students and staff. Cultural events, quiz, debates, songs, dances, essay competitions etc are organized completely by the students who invariably enrich their leadership qualities and team spirit.
Ugadi
UGĀDI - an important festival celebrated marking the commencement of the new year as per the Indian lunisolar almanac, is fast approaching! various sports and cultural events, like dance and music, to depict the culture of Andharapradesh. Ugadi Fest is also arranged.
SPICMACAY
SPIC MACAY is a non-political nationwide voluntary movement that organises programmes of classical music and dance, folk arts, crafts, yoga, classic cinema screenings, heritage walks, etc. inside school and college campuses throughout the world to make students more aware about Indian and world heritage. This initiative makes education more holistic and meaningful as it highlights all that is abstract, subtle, inspiring and mystical in the world teaching one to look within oneself. SPICMACAY runs on the energy of volunteers who come from all walks of life - students, teachers, housewives, professional and retired people, young and old. Nishkam Seva is a key aspect of the movement.
The Department has dedicated Student Counsellors encouraging students involved in Extracurricular and Co-Curricular Activities. Students are encouraged to join at least one of the following Student Forums to fine tune their innate raw talents to ultimately compete in various competitions held at National and South East Asian Levels. It is ensured that the quality and content of the programs organized by these forums are in tune with the Norms of the Association of Indian Universities.

Ragging is a criminal offence and it is banned in the campus
Ragging includes tormenting others by words or deed, playing rough jokes on others, engaging in rough play, physical assault or threat, use of physical force, verbal abuse and aggression, exhibiting indecent gestures and obscene behavior, exposing fellow students and others to ridicule and contempt, violating the status, dignity and honor of fellow students and others, violating the privacy and rights of others and harassing or exhibiting riotous behavior. Students involved in ragging will be liable for summary expulsion from the institution, with a note in his/her Transfer Certificate to that effect, and the case may also be referred to the Police. In such cases, the student will not be able to continue his/her studies not only in this institution but in any other institution.
A general Disciplinary Committee, an Anti-Ragging Committee, an Internal Complaints Committee and a Women Empowerment & Grievance Cell have been formed to take care of the Discipline in the campus.
